Bayulu Remote Community School (RCS) is currently seeking an enthusiastic Lunch Program Attendant to join our team.
The Lunch Program Attendant will prepare all meals under the guidance of the Principal whilst undertaking cleaning of cooking utensils and equipment and ensuring that a high standard of catering, health, safety and hygiene is maintained. The successful applicant will assist the Principal in planning menus to meet students’ special dietary requirements you will assist the Principal with food and stock control, including ordering and stock rotation.
The Lunch Program Attendant will assist in maintaining a high standard of hygiene through the organisation and cleanliness of pantries, freezers, cool rooms and store rooms as well as cleaning of the lunch preparation area and clearing waste to appropriate areas whilst undertake lunch program-related duties as required.
Bayulu Remote Community School is a Level 4 school situated on Gogo Station, approximately 2700 kilometres north east of Perth. The nearest town is Fitzroy Crossing (16km) with Derby (270km) and Broome (410km) being the closest main centres. It is located in the Kimberley Education Region and is within driving distance of several popular tourist sights. Please be advised that is no housing supplied by the Education Department for this position
The school caters for approximately 100 children from Kindergarten to Year 6, the majority of whom speak both Kriol and Standard Australian English. Students are immersed in a rich and robust curriculum which includes structured Literacy and Numeracy blocks as well as Science, History, Geography, Health, Physical Education and the Arts. In addition to these learning areas, the school actively promotes the traditional languages of Gooniyandi and Walmajarri, with trained AIEOs teaching these during LOTE lessons.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in working in a canteen or café, including the storage and preparation of food.
- Good communication skills and ability to provide courteous and efficient service.
- Knowledge of food hygiene practices and relevant Occupational Safety and Health Regulations.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a small team and contribute to team outcomes.
